Anna Mika

Anna Mika is an urban landscape photographer who is renowned for photographing european derelict buildings. Anna Mika's work has been used in newspapers such as the Daily Mail, which range from photographing burnt out vehicles to an abandoned polish palace. One aspect that is repeatative in Anna's photography is her use of a fish eye lens, this is commonly used in her building photographs rather than other photographs such as featuring abandoned vehicles and a closed graveyard.

Anna Mika - "'Everyone is looking for something new, new connections, gadgets, relationships and I think it is worth reminding others where they come from, reminding them of the history of their cities, factories and coal mines"

One aspect i like about Anna Mika's collection is the high contrast HDR style that they have been adjusted in the editing stage to, i think this created a more dark feel to the photographs, which is a technique i also adopted during the editing aspect of my final images.

Another aspect i would have liked to experiment with during my shoots would have been the 'light through the window' lighting that Anna Mika has featured in a few of her photographs, this was difficult due to all the abandoned building i photographed their windows were completely boarded up. I would in future plan and research into the buildings more & consider the 'light through the window' technique and ensure i could achieve this with the building i would be photographing.
