David Snyder

David Snyder is a photographer who works for non profit companies. Thoroughout his career he has lived in both Kenya and South Africa, and has traveled to more than 60 countries to photograph emergency relief and development work.

I chose David Snyder as a photographer to research as i chose to shoot the natural disaster of the destruction caused due to flooding on 26th December 2015, which caused damage to peoples home and businesses. I photographed The Waterside Restaurant which is a restaurant in ramsbottom which was 200 years old which due to flooded fell through the ground into a river below. I attempted to photograph this natural disaster from a distance and from all angles, for example the destruction, where it came from and the clean up operation. I taken this plan from David Snyder as when researching his photography i found photographs he has taken of natural disasters and then the clean up aftermath, i attempted to photograph from both these angles when shooting the natural disaster at The Waterside Restaurant.

If i was to take into consideration David Snyder's photography more when photographing in future i would research into the individuals whom houses and businesses were personally damaged due to a natural disaster such as flooding. I would then photograph them and the situation the flooding had left them in. I believe this would create a more personal feel to the photographs, which is a feeling i believe David Snyder gives you as a viewer. From his photography as a viewer it makes me feel the emotion and distress that the subject of the photograph is feeling, this is what i would like to recreate and make someone feel when viewing my photography.
