Shoot 1 - Stand Athletic Football Club
Stand Athletic Football Club is a derelict and
Abandoned building in
Rossendale which closed in 2004. The site covers a 4.8 acre area and includes a two-storey clubhouse with a viewing balcony, two changing rooms, function room with lounge and the exterior of the ground is an overgrown football pitch. When i went to Stand Football club, and entered the building we were following in by a gentlemen who explained unknown to me that a body had been recently found on the grounds at the rear of the building. This is something that immediately interested me, due to the theme of this assignment being 'evidence'. That is where i took the police tape photographs. When taking the exterior photographs i didnt
use any lighting other than natural light, whereas when photographing the interior of the building and the police tape i used off camera flash. The reason i used this was where the police tape was situated it was in a dark corner at the rear of the building, and within the building there was no natural lighting, so off camera flash was the only option.
When i was photographing the interior of the building i had the ISO at 800 to ensure there was a high sensitivity to light, as i wanted to ensure the photograph wasnt too dark. I didnt want to have an ISO of 1600 as i believe this would have over exposed the photograph due to the bright off camera lighting and also it would have created too much noise within the photograph. I then experimented with aperture between f/2.8 and f4, the reason for this is because i didnt want to let too much light from the off camera lighting into the photograph, whereas as it was so dark without the lighting, i didnt want to have an aperture of f/8 and not let enough light in. To conclude, i experimented with a shutter speed of
1/40 to 1/200 to test how long i wanted to expose light to the camera as i didnt want this to result in an under or over exposed photograph.
